First Birthday Party, Dr. Suess-Style

Time flies when you’re having fun! Our youngest’s birthday snuck up on us fast but we threw together an amazing low budget Dr. Suess birthday party that was almost just as fun to craft as it was to party!

The garland was fun fun fun! I used the silhouette machine to cut circles out of card stock and then used a hot glue gun to adhere the circles to string. I had an awesome assistant, my lovely sister in law that helped me with all the gluing, bless her heart! It actually didn’t take long at all to my surprise! Click here for a┬átutorial!

I can’t talk about this party without mentioning the cake so we are going to have to go off topic real quick. I don’t know about you but I put a lot of stock in having an awesome cake. I wish I could tell you how to make this cake but some things you have to leave to the experts. We were lucky enough to have this made by the super talented Angie Karow. If you are any where near Lewis Center Ohio and need a cake I would highly recommend you get a hold of Angie at akarow8350@yahoo.com. Not only was it a perfect replica of the book illustrations it was probably the best tasting cake I’ve ever had. I’m still swooning over it.

Originally I had big plans for a outdoor sign but this turned out just perfectly and was way cheaper and more time efficient than doing something freestanding. A free printable for these are coming soon!

Since purchasing the Silhouette machine I have been all about personalizing shirts and I LOVE how these family shirts turned out. I used sister easy weed heat transfer vinyl and shirts, all ordered off of amazon. It was so easy peasy and I will forever treasure the great photos we got in them! Tutorial coming soon!

When I started brainstorming food options I KNEW I had to have green eggs and ham. We picked up some blue food coloring, carton of eggs and a few packages of cubed ham from the deli meat section and made green scrambled eggs with cubes of ham. The birthday boy LOVED them!

“Would you like them with a FISH”?

We had to set out bowls of Swedish fish and goldfish crackers to go along with the standard party sandwiches and chips.

Happy Birthday sweet baby!
